Short-stay visa announced in Oman

The authorities in Oman have announced a new short-state visa system as part of efforts to boost the tourism industry.

Under new streamline visa regulations unveiled by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), tourists can now pay OMR 5 only to spend 10 days in the Sultanate.

The Inspector General of Police and Customs issued decision No. 129/2018, to amend some of the provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Aliens Residence Law.

Two new visa fees have been added to the list of entry visas in Article 29 of the regulation on residence law 63/96.

These include the fee-for-visa transfer application which amounts a non-refundable OMR50 and the OMR5 fee for a 10-day tourist visa.

Under the new system tourist visas have been divided into three main categories- 10 days, one month and one year.
