Earthquakes in Panama leave five injured, minor damage

A 6.1-size seismic tremor hit Panama on Sunday, harming at any rate five individuals and making harm organizations and homes, authorities said. 

The solid shake struck at a profundity of 37 kilometers (23 miles) in the furthest west of the nation close to the Costa Rican fringe, as indicated by the US Geological Survey. 

It was trailed by a littler 5.4-size tremor in Colon region, on focal Panama's Caribbean coast, as indicated by the nation's National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc). 

Five individuals were harmed in the primary shake, which hit 22 km from the town of Puerto Armuelles, said Sinaproc. 

Four homes were harmed, including two that crumbled, it said. 

President Juan Carlos Varela had said on Twitter before that only one individual was harmed, in Puerto Armuelles. 

He revealed harm to homes and organizations in the Central American country. 

 

School classes were suspended for Monday in Baru locale, where the primary tremor struck. 

There was no tidal wave alert issued from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. 

The second tremor happened late Sunday and was not identified with the evening shudder close Puerto Armuelles, Sinaproc said. 

So far no harm has been accounted for from the second tremor, it included.
